Liz Tobias - Jazz Artist, Vocalist, Musician based in Adelaide

A professional, working musician since the age of 16, Liz Tobias is a well respected vocalist and pianist whose career has taken her all over Australia and the world. Growing up in Adelaide, Liz has been in the music scene all of her life. As a child and teenager she played gospel music, taking part in large conferences and festivals. At the age of sixteen Liz was accepted for the Elder Conservatorium on vocals where she went on to complete a degree in Jazz Performance. Whilst completing her degree in 2004, Liz was a finalists in the Australia-wide James Morrison Vocal scholarship. In that year, Liz also had the honour of working alongside one of the world's finest jazz vocalists and 6 time Grammy nominee Mark Murphy on a few local Jazz projects. Liz has studied under some of Australia's greatest vocalists such as Anita Wardell, Michelle Nicole, Jo Lawry and Alison Wedding. After graduating from the Conservatorium, Liz was invited by the well known quintet "E Type Jazz" to perform on Vocals and Piano from 2005 - 08. Throughout her career she has recorded multiple radio spots and television performances, spent listless hours recording in studios doing session work, whilst still performing regularly abroad. In months over 2006 - 2007, Liz accepted the offer to tour Asia, basing herself in Seoul, Korea. On her return, Liz collaborated with Bob Johnson, strings, horns and a swinging four piece rhythm section to record her debut album. "A Beautiful Friendship (and just the beginning of love)" was a project close to her heart as she moved towards her marriage with her long time best friend. Most recently, Liz was awarded first place in the International Jazz Voicingers Competition in Poland, which has been a catalyst in launching her career into the realms of Europe.
